Over 25 Years of Empowering Black & Minoritised Women to Empower Themselves!

Training and Services

Promoting economic independence is crucial to empowering black and minoritised women to fulfil their potential and be self-reliant. The Angelou Centre is unique in the range of courses it delivers to meet women’s needs, with a focus on life skills and employability support as well as recovery and parenting skills for survivors of violence and abuse. It is strongly committed to ensuring that the majority of courses can be accessed by women, regardless of their immigration status or economic situation.

Through its recognition by One Awards (NOCN) and partnerships with Online Centres Network, Newcastle City Learning and WEA the Angelou Centre continued to deliver a wide range of accredited and non-accredited courses.

The Angelou Centre is the lead partner on the Women First Partnership, having secured European Social Fund resources with 4 other North-East organisations: Riverside Community Health Project, Millin Charity, Compact for Racial Equality in South Tyneside (CREST) and Fourth Action. The Women First partnership supported the further expansion of the Centre’s in-house accredited training and employability opportunities.
