  • Would you like to help other women to achieve their potential?

At this very exciting time of significant growth, we need a Treasurer and Management Board members to join our existing team to ensure that the Angelou Centre carries out its purposes for the public benefit.

The Angelou Centre exists to advance the social inclusion and economic independence of black and minority ethnic women, children and young people. We provide services and activities that enable them to overcome barriers, achieve their full potential and inform policy and practice at all levels. A black-led women’s organisation we use a holistic approach to promote empowerment, through a team of multilingual and culturally competent workers and volunteers.

You will display strong commitment to the ethos and values of the Centre. You will bring your time, energy and commitment to work in the best interests of the organisation.

Due to the nature of our work the post is open to women only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1). We particularly welcome applications from women from Black and Minority Ethnic Communities. We are keen to hear from women who have experience of working with women and girls; safeguarding children; finance and accounting; marketing and communications; business planning and enterprise; research, impact and evaluation; and ICT development, systems and support. The roles are voluntary; however, the Centre pays all reasonable expenses.

To request a Trustee Application Pack please contact Lesley Hughes, by phone on 0191 2260394 or email admin@angelou-centre.org.uk. For an informal chat about the role please contact Umme Imam by phone, as above, or email umme@angelou-centre.org.uk.
